Hair-Dyeing

Dyeing to colour your hair!

Ask your Coolangatta Hairdresser about the new season’s trends.

The Season’s they are a-changing (Cat Stevens) and here comes spring. Summer is just around the corner, so it’s time to chat with your Coolangatta Hair Colourist about the latest colour trends. Don’t be shy to try, think fresh and creative.

Public service announcement: Winters finally on its way out. It’s time to pull out all your bright, airy clothes and get ready to spend some time having fun in the sun. This transitional period is also a great time to reinvent your look from head to toe. While some people choose to go shopping for new clothes or book themselves in for a manicure or pedicure, many others will be looking for Maggie, our Coolangatta/Tweed Heads Colourist to advise them on how the latest trends, techniques and colour combinations will suit their personal style and requirements.

Trend # 1: Understated Highlights look very natural but boost the soft shades of Brunette

Most people associate getting highlights with bright blonde hair, but brown hair looks great with a smatter of brightening. If you are a brunette who isn’t into trying anything too bold, you can upscale your appearance with a few highlights. Go for understated foils or a soft balayage for a subtle but sunny look that you can take from the office to the beach.

Trend #2: Sunset Hues On Wavy Hair

What’s the first image that comes to mind when you hear about RED hair? If you’re thinking of a shocking primary shade, you might be imagining the colours adorned by bold pop stars like Rihanna or Katy Perry. For most of us, this is a bit bold for everyday wear. You may want to tone it down by opting for more of the auburn tones. Think about the variations in the shades of copper or even Rose Golds the possibilities are endless. I LOVE the option of adding some Hair Wefts that can be pinned or clipped in and allow for more excitement to boost the look for a special occasion.

Trend #3: An Ombre Creation that can be soft… or DRAMATIC

For people who love to explore different colours, an Ombre technique is a gorgeous option. Book your consultation time at Salon Maggie G and ask for some advice about which colours would look great against your skin tone, then decide how dramatic you want the transition to be – as it can range from subtle to Way Out There.

Trend #4: Champagne with a Touch of Strawberry

If the image of a flute glass with champagne and a berry inside came to mind when you read this, then you’ve got the right idea. Strawberry undertones on blonde hair will never grow tired. Try this look, selecting the hues that sit in your personal colour pallet whether you’re in the office, on-campus or out on the town.

Trend #5: Grey is the New Black… Well Maybe Not, But it’s Totally In!!

In case you haven’t noticed, grey fun isn’t restricted to seniors anymore. Try a trendy grey makeover and bring youthful energy to the look by strategically adding shades of silver, white and even black to your luscious locks.

Trend #6: You Might Be Considering A Colour Detour

What about a total eclipse? At times the hair just needs a rest. If it’s feeling tired, frazzled and washed out, a Demi Colour is a very useful “go-to”. A Demi Colour is highly nourishing and since it has no Ammonia can be used as a colour balance, evening out faded sun-bleached hair and helping to not only feed the hair but help restore its shine and lustre, camouflage split ends and give the appearance of a thicker more dense texture.
